Non-English cookbook reviews?

Recently, I haven't been reading a lot of English cookbooks - I haven't really been inspired by any new ones for some reason. Instead, I have been reading a lot of Japanese cookbooks and food magazines. I've discovered a few that are new to me, and re-discovered some old favorites.

I'm not sure if it's worthwhile to talk about them here since...well, they are Japanese. So I guess I will ask - would you like to read about cookbooks and magazines that aren't in English? If there's interest I'll talk about some of my favorites from time to time.

Yes, please comment about Japanese language cookbooks and magazines! My spoken Japanese is serviceable, but I have to work at reading. It would be very helpful to me to have a guide.

I'd love to hear about your favorite magazines from japan. I can't read sh*t in japanese, but would love to get to know something about those. An extra- mega-bonus feature would be to translate a few of the recipes that you choose to use.

Yes, please comment about Japanese language cookbooks and magazines! My spoken Japanese is HORRIBLE, AND I have to work at reading. It would be very helpful to me to have a guide. (Seriously, my spoken Japanese is horrible.)

I would love to hear about Japanese cookbooks and magazines. I neither speak nor read Japanese, but am ever curious about everything Japanese (my mom is from an island south of Okinawa called Taketomi). What about Japanese craft books and magazines? Do you stick strickly to cooking issues? What if........ its a craft magazine that shows some ideas for great pot holders or tea cozies? Placemats and napkins can help present food nicely. Where do you get your books and magazines? It's hard to find them in Louisville, ky. Ok. it's impossible to find them here.

Sandy I will try to cover some non-food (or...inedible) subject books and things I love too.

Please translate some of these recipes into English. Especially the authentic recipes or street food snacks or izakaya food. That would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

yes, absolutely. it will give me incentive to actually learn the language.

Yes, please post about them! I am currently living in Japan and actually look at your blog for ideas for Japanese food, seeing as I can get all of the ingredients very easily here... I would love to hear about which Japanese cookbooks are worth getting etc :)

Thanks for your feedback everyone! I will be posting reviews - so, stay tuned!
